Token counts are an estimate, not a tokenizer run — roughly one token per CJK character and one per four characters otherwise. Use them to compare fields against each other, not as an exact budget.

Export
PNG re-embed keeps your original image bytes untouched and only rewrites the text chunks, so the artwork is
not recompressed. Both chara and ccv3 are written so V2-only readers still work.
V1 is lossy by nature — it has no slots for worldbooks, alternate greetings or system prompts.
