Terms of use
Last updated: 2026-08-18
What this is
Larkbench is a free browser-based utility for inspecting and converting character card files. Using it means you accept these terms. They are short because the service is small: we serve you a static page, and everything else happens on your own machine.
Your files stay yours
We claim no rights over anything you open, edit or export. We never receive your files, so we could not use, store or share them even if we wanted to. You are responsible for having the right to use the cards you process.
Provided as-is
The tool is provided without warranty of any kind. Format conversion between card specifications is inherently lossy in some directions — converting to V1 discards worldbooks, alternate greetings and system prompts, because that format has nowhere to put them. The workbench tells you what it detected and what it will write, but keep your original file. Do not use an export as your only copy.
We are not liable for lost or corrupted data, for cards that a downstream tool refuses to load, or for any consequence of relying on the token estimates, which are approximations and are labelled as such.
Accounts
You do not need an account to use the workbench, and nothing on this site is paywalled behind one. If you choose to create an account, the terms below apply to it.
- One account is shared across our products. The credentials you create here sign you in to the other services we operate; the confirmation page tells you where. Those services have their own terms, which apply when you use them.
- You must be old enough to hold an account where you live, and at least 13 in any case.
- Give a real email address you control. Verification exists so that the address on an account actually belongs to its owner; it is the only way we can reach you about it.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe it has been taken over.
- One person, ordinary use. Do not create accounts in bulk, automate registration, or register on someone else's behalf without their knowledge.
- Closing an account. Write to the address on the About page and we will delete it and its data. We may suspend or close an account that is used to attack the service or other users.
Acceptable use
You may not use Larkbench to:
- process material that is illegal to possess or distribute where you are;
- attempt to attack, overload or gain unauthorised access to this site or its hosting;
- republish the site as your own service while implying it is operated by us;
- create accounts in bulk, script the sign-up form, or use addresses you do not control.
Beyond that, use it however you like — commercially, in bulk, as part of your own workflow. No attribution required.
Availability
There is no uptime commitment. The site may be changed, moved or discontinued at any time. Because the tool runs locally, a page you already have open keeps working even if the site goes down.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date above changes with them. Continuing to use the site after that constitutes acceptance.
